Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 69.5/100, a mean average of 66.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 68.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.4.

Finnish Indie. Fine. Nothing wrong with it, just nothing that original
The run of tracks from 6 (Nyt - ‘Now’) to 8 (‘Utopia’) finished the album off brilliantly. Nyt and Utopia straddle my favourite moment on the album, the brilliant Eroosio (‘Erosion’).
I can't picture myself listening to this outside the context of this listening club, so in that sense this already counts as a successful pick in my book. Starting with the vocals, the truth is I couldn't stand them during the first couple of listens. I suspect this may have to do with the fact that -as I explained above- I was out of my comfort zone and struggling to figure out what's going on, so to add one extra layer I had to keep track of was a bit too much and had a distracting effect. After a while though, they started growing on me. Even though I have no idea what they were talking about - and to be honest it doesn't matter that much, if any, in this kind of album- I have to admit they were aesthetically pleasing and contributed significantly to the overall sound. I understand why most of you would mention the post-punk aspects, but they felt secondary to me, it's not what kept my interest. Actually, if I was asked to classify this in a single genre I would go with the order of shoegaze>pop>post-punk. The usual problem I have with shoegaze is that most of such albums I have listened to contain some moments of magic where everything clicks, but it's almost impossible to maintain it through a whole album. Unfortunately, this was the case here as well. I liked the first half of the album much more than the second. The first four tracks flowed naturally into each other creating the trademark hazy atmosphere of shoegaze - with the fourth one being the climax of this build up and the highlight of the album for me -, but then came the fifth track - I don't call the tracks by their name, but by number, because those titles don't mean anything to me, so there's not much point in calling them by name. While it was certainly enjoyable on its own, it felt as the odd one out in comparison to what preceeded it, somewhat out of place, it got me out of the mood. The same happened with the seventh track, too, but I guess by that point it was too late anyway, the spark was gone. I liked the closer, though, the album deserved to end in a high note.

85/100 (Really excellent Shoegaze album with some really incredible waves of guitar and some really dope melodic post punk thrown in to spice it up a bit.)
Hi Folks, This is Shoegaze Album by Radio Supernova. Shoegaze Album by Radio Supernova, these folks here are BEA Members. They are very excited to meet you! *SgAbRS smiles, says hello, and then walks into other room so I can talk about it with y'all privately*
It says right here on this here computah screen that they (Radio Supernova) are a Finnish band. And I gotta say, I like this album. Never once did I say to my music listening device "Finish, Band!". lol. I'm sorry.
It's 3am and I should be asleep but I can't sleep but what I can do is listen to this album 4 times straight. So, that's what I'm doing.
Along with Epic Waves of Gauzy Shoegaze guitar sounds, there are parts of this album that are almost punky. Those moments are more sharp and more jagged and clear and less dreamy, "Eroosio" is a great example of this with its propulsive drums and its echoing guitars.
The singer is great, the way she surfs these waves of sound is really quite gorgeous. The drummer and the guitarists are great, the bass player too, and if there is a keyboardist or harmonica player somewhere in there they also are great. really the whole thing is quite good to ....well, great. (I'm doing a terrible job describing this album, apologies.)
Well, look, to be honest, I have only ever heard maybe 10-20 shoegaze albums. So, I don't have much of a frame of reference for the sounds here. Even with my limited experience I can hear that this band isn't changing the game or doing anything super groundbreaking What they are doing is taking all the coolest parts of shoegaze and post punk and dream pop and kinda mixing them up and making a beautiful fucking album!
That's it. That's all I got. Check this album out. I think its good and sounds cool and stuff.
