Released in 2008 on the small and independent Roheen Records, Kitty Donohoe is a traditional Celtic singer/songwriter who first came to public attention in the Michigan based bar band "Pub Domain" in the late 1990s, That band performed historic songs which were part of the Public Domain and to which there were no legal obligations (monetary or otherwise) due to any specific person(s) or entity(ies). As Donohoe developed as a performer she began to compose her own lyrics and music, and this album features 8 of 10 original songs, along with 2 songs which began as traditional musical numbers and one of those ("Come On Girls") Donohoe adds new lyrics to the traditional melody. Northern Border has traditional Celtic music, some that hints at country music, and blues songs. Donohoe is supported by accordion and bodhran accompaniment along with her piano and guitar. In addition, whistle, uilleann pipes, cello, viola, saxophone, and mandolin are also heard. (Cat# RR007)
