Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 70.6/100, a mean average of 69.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 70.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.2.

Battle at Gardens Gate is the best album to date for Greta Van Fleet. They show From the Fires as the best and I find that hard to believe, for one From the Fires is only 30 minutes long vs Gardens Gate which is close to an hour long. Fires is their sophomore album which consists of 4 songs from their debut album. Gardens Gate has ballad songs that show the range of the lead singer as well as it shows how the group is evolving into a great rock band. If you like Greta you must have Battles at Gardens Gate.
I wasn’t sure about this album at first listen but now, each listen has revealed something more than I heard last time. Becoming a favourite of 2021

I’ve been a consistent supporter of these guys (despite the haters) since ‘From The Fires’ some 4 years ago. It’s follow up ‘Anthem Of The Peaceful’ was solid enough, and then when the ‘Broken Bells’ EP came out as an album prelude in March containing the excellent album tracks “Broken Bells”, “Heat Above” and “Age of Machine” as well as the solid “My Way, Soon” my hopes for ‘The Battle at Gardens Gate’ were high
Unfortunately though expectations did not meet reality as the EP tracks were ultimately the albums best moments, a smart marketing move on the bands part to raise album anticipation and hype. A regular comment featured in most critical reviews was that the album was too long and I would have to agree. Coming in at 63 minutes, the last 5 tracks feel like an air guitar contest slog, someone at some point should applied scissors to the entire production and project
As an EP with said 4 tracks 9/10
As an entire album it just doesn’t hit the mark on this occasion
are they good or not? are good ... is it prohibited to play Rock? no ... so enough of censoring them ... the voice reminds Robert Plant and what is the problem? if it reminded Rick Astley that it was bad ... listen to the albums and be happy with these talented kids.

Incrivelmente talentosos... Tristemente sem autenticidade!

This band is so frustrating. They undeniably have talent. Fantastic vocal range, decent lyrics and tight playing. They could be the forefathers of a new era in rock...yet they opt to tread tired ground from 50 years ago.
I don't get it.
Best album in 2021 by far...they already have a unique sound...Enough prejudice. Love you forever Greta you are pure talent.:)
While these guys are clearly talented, especially the guitarist and drummer, too many of there songs end up sounding generic and boring. Greta Van Fleet has gotten a lot of criticism since their debut for sounding like a knock-off Led Zeppelin. Now they're taking queues from Rush and still struggling to find their own identity. Another issue I have with this album, and the band in general, is that the lead singer has impressive range but ends up screeching and yelling in every song. There's no variety from the vocals so every song is more of the same. My favorites songs here are Heat Above, Broken Bells, and the Weight of Dreams. This isn't a terrible album but Greta Van Fleet seriously needs to find their own sound instead of just "borrowing" from different bands.
