People are always on their asses about sounding to much like Led Zeppelin. You know what I say, "SO F'n WHAT!" I like Led Zeppelin, so yes I enjoy this music and they are talented and I hope they keep sounding like Led Zeppelin for their entire long career. Long Live GVF! Oh and this is a Awesome debut album.

Nice album, not the great album I hoped for.

If this album were recorded in 1970, competing against better bands of the same ilk, it wouldn't have gotten much attention, but those who heard it would've thought it a half-baked knockoff. In 2019, it might warrant criminal charges. Just impossibly bad songwriting at a time when there's just no room for this kind of tripe.

So here goes with a GVF review and I promise to not mention the "L" Word

The legendary or infamous Greta Van Fleet depending on your position were always on a hiding to nothing with this debut album - stick to the formula and risk scorn , tweak things and be accused of selling out . I'm glad they stayed the course and stuck the middle finger to detractors and announced this is us and F you

It's like shooting fish in the barrel bringing slagging this album off , its lazy and too easy , but let me report there' a lot to like here except the more Spinal Tap than Spinal Tap track "Brave New World" and the plodding "Anthem"

So bravo to the Kiszka boys x3 + Danny Wagner for wearing their hearts on their sleeves and making the album THEY wanted to release and staying true to themselves .

For this they have my full respect

Decent record definitely borrows sounds from previous acts but do you disparage that act from stealing its sound from previous acts as well? thats art artists borrow from those who came before them. thats just how it goes. influences are fine they are all over the art world in every form. nothing is fully original.

A well-produced, boring rip off of Led Zep. Don't bother.

Okay so after 4 listens today of the entire album, some of my ratings wavered some stayed the same. Standout three tracks are Mountain Of The Sun, Lover, Leaver (Taker, Beliver) and Brave New World. Throw in You’re The One and When The Curtain Falls to round out the top 5. My least favorite track is The New Day but I didn’t think it was bad. Songs range from 90-70 with an overall still of 83/100. This might change over the course of next week.

*One sylistic knock = too many “The” & “New” for me in this album’s track titles. Also, the vinyl release has 10 tracks with the full length version of Lover, Leaver (Taker, Beliver). I don’t think they should’ve released the ‘single’ version of this song. A 10 song lp with 5 singles is too many in my opinion.
