Recorded during a 1966 session in Denmark and released on Storyville Records (Cat#: SLP 189) this album captures the acclaimed 20s blues singer Sippie Wallace performing her most notable songs after having been away from the blues for many years accompanied by pianists Roosevelt Sykes and Little Brother Montgomery, in addition to accompanying herself. In 1992 Alligator Records re-released this album as "Women Be Wise".
(Cat#: ALCD 4810) adds two additional songs to the dozen from the 1966 release. "Suitcase Blues" and "You Don't Know My Mind." were recorded during the 1966 sessions and included on the Alligator release. Miss Wallace was an iconic and groundbreaking female blues artists and a standard bearer for female singers, having fans and followers including Bonnie Raitt who performed several Wallace songs in her own discography.
Miss Wallace performed throughout her life and right up until her death in 1986. She deserves to be included among the legendary Blues Singers and among every serious record collector's collection.
