A new St.Vincent album ! . Actually no, not even close
What we have here is the soundtrack to the mocumentary movie The Nowhere Inn starring St.Vincent and Carrie Brownstein (Sleater - Kinney)which evidently plots the inner workings of stardom filtered through the prism of main antagonist St.Vincent. As I write this December 2021 I haven’t actually seen the movie yet but the reviews have been mostly savagely negative even though the premise and trailers appeared on the surface to be pretty cool
That be as it may what I can tell you about is this album. 19 “tracks” in 29 minutes kinda gives it away with only three actual tracks: “The Nowhere Inn”, “Palm Desert” and “Waiting On A Wave”. The remaining 16 tracks are short musical interludes ranging from 30 seconds up 120 seconds pertaining to scenes from within the movie. These interludes have no context unless you’ve seen the movie and even then you’d be well placed to recall where they actually slot in
So if you’re looking for a St.Vincent fix look no further than ‘Daddy’s Home’ which came came out a few months ago
