Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.8/100, a mean average of 70.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 71.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.3.

what... is... this...
The songs that don't make you go like the above statement are shameless rip-offs (Iggy Pop and otherwise The Rolling Stones on 'Signed DC' for instance).
'Listen To My Song' was the first moment they went back to their sound, and it works and sounds nice and makes you wonder why they don't explore their own sound more. And then it's right back to the rip-offs, Jimi Hendrix this time... consistently. Led Zeppelin even one time on 'Doggone', that surely doesn't work as well as 'Moby Dick' and basically has a nice beginning and ending, and a middle that just works on your nerves. And of course 'Discharged' is there to make you go "WHAT... IS... THIS???"
I prefer this album to "Four Sail". I think the meat of this album is better, but too much filler on the double long player. Best leave the double albums to the Beatles, Stones & Dylan, sometimes Zappa.
