Yeah, once I started adding Dylan albums to this chart, I found I couldn't leave many of his albums from the sixties off. There are just so many gems on every one of his albums. Perhaps in part because I wasn't alive during the sixties, my own emotional landscape of that decade is influenced by a few key figures, with Dylan being the most important.

Gowi, I appreciate your comment about the Beatles not making my top 10. I like the Beatles, obviously, as six of their albums made my top 100 for the 1960s. As WayneMC points out, I wasn't alive during the sixties, so I feel perhaps a little more liberated to go against the grain, focusing on the soul and country rock that influenced the music of the seventies that I loved most. Nevertheless, I still have fond memories of listening to the Sgt. Pepper album in the basement of my best friend's house growing up, and I certainly think it's deserving of the critical acclaim it's gotten over the years.

My favorite part of this is The Beatles aren't in the Top Ten.

There are some great albums in your chart but it obviously isn't your decade (born in 1971) so I forgive the lack of variety. Judging by what you DO like I think you'll find some great albums in my 60s chart(s) to explore.

Thanks for that great comment, Tamthebam! This chart is still very much a work in progress. As you can see from my selections, I'm a huge fan of sixties soul music. I don't feel at all bound by what was actually popular, since I wasn't alive in the sixties--instead I can concentrate on the music that has lasting value for me. That means Bob Dylan, of course, but also the wonderful Nina Simone and Otis Redding, among others.

A great reflection of what the 60's was all about. Bob Dylan & The Beatles ruled in the 60's and it is impossible to ignore their influences. Also good to see Nina, Aretha & Otis included so many people tend to forget about the great soul/RnB music that was made in this decade. Great chart.
