“Arrangements” sees the Preoccupations switch to a more jangly sound. The guitars are looser and more energetic, giving songs more movement. This is most apparent on “Advisor” with its fantastic split out half way through. Despite this sound update, the lyrics remain pessimistic. Doom, inevitability, decline of man are discussed competently but not powerfully. A good step forward for the band.
