Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 7% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.2/100, a mean average of 73.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.6.

I found Perfume Genius from his Colbert show performance (slip away) and was immediately hooked on his whole discography. Seeing his music evolve from the timid and sad songs of his early work into the triumphant bliss of his newer work is incredible. And while the sounds on albums like "No Shape" are phenomenal, the soft and tearful tone of this album is equally great. This album stands out as an essential piece of queer music, or just music in general, in my eyes. So deeply emotional, and if I could only recommend one album from his discography this might just be it.
Anyone else liked the first one better?
I initially dismissed this album when it came out, but for some odd reason, I listened to it all the way through again the other day. It's a good album. I wouldn't say it's memorable, but it's good music.

Excellant Album. Some great songs to keep you interested.
All shapes of sadness on this album. But as a whole the album seems a bit boring.
Good songs:
1. Normal song. Magic mix of voice and acoustic guitar. Dreamy
2. Dark parts. Sentimental and honest with nice image: "dark parts"
3. Hood. The most interesting, has drive. I like the line "U would never call me baby".
4. Put Your Back N 2 It. Bass melody is charming.
I found it very boring and was somewhat dissapointed
Excellent sophomore album that rewards with repeated listens. PG's delicately poised reflections are a perfect balm to the clamour of most of today's 'rock' bands. By far the best album of 2012.
It was okay, but I don't think I'll bother with a second listen. The slow sad thing got old after a while.
