Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. Have just listened to this again for the first time in about 30 years and it is far better than I remember it. When I first bought it in 1980 my taste was quite different than it is now and I just couldn't get into it. Now it sounds like a forgotten masterpiece, which shows the other Floyd members how to make a great solo album. Quite frankly I am now astonished at how good this is. I always thought Rick was the key element in classic era Floyd, and this album proves it.

To my surprise, there are some very low rates, as I really like the album. Wright was the only one of Floyd that could, somehow, keep the essence of the band that made them one of the bests bands ever. Also, I feel a clear influence of Jazz on the album, which Rick used to listen and like, and that is what gives an interesting thing to the chart, the combination of Progressive Rock with Jazz.
