Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.1/100, a mean average of 72.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.2/100. The standard deviation for this album is 11.7.

Not mind blowing, nothing really new, but still a solid contribution to their discography. Not sure what else they can do at this point ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Sounds like their older stoner rock blended with Villains, in a good way. Songwriting and musicianship are as tight as ever, especially live.

The album is fairly consistent right the way through, though there are about two pairs of songs that share rhythmic motifs and melodic similarities, which can make it feel as though you've heard a song before.

Overall, honestly a little disappointed, but can't expect a clockwork-level reinvention every time from a band this age. Maybe someone who hasn't heard them through and through can enjoy it more having fresh ears. The music is still great and I enjoy the tunes.

Highlights: Time & Place, Paper Machete

An extremely solid album from start to finish; with interesting songwriting, killer playing and delivered as a consummate sonic package.

Another great Queens of the Stone Age album. The bass player is the highlight on the majority of these songs.
