A comfort blanket of melancholic and really well crafted country tracks. “King Of Oklahoma” stands out with its reflective and hopeless lyrics making for a real sombre mood. This is then followed up by the equally sombre sounding “Strawberry Woman”. The mood is then lightened with the Karaoke chorus that is “Save The World '' before the return of the melancholy with the utterly gorgeous tracks “If You Insist” and “Cast Iron Skillet”. Isbell's vocals and songrwriting are fantastic throughout and the instrumentation is beautifully melancholic, yet calming. Stellar album.

Wow!
Traditional Irish Folk sound that celebrates artists like "The Pogues" in places while adding new and intriguing experimental elements to the sound. Add to this the accessibility gained due to stunningly soft tracks like "Lord Abore And Mary Flynn" and "Newcastle" and you have a truly spectacular album.
If there was such a thing as "Post Folk", then I would envisage it sounding like "On A Monday Morning" with it's melancholic and stripped back sound.
Every second is somehow spared of filler despite the 72 minute runtime which is quite an achievement. Fantastic album.

Stunning sentimental country album. The tempo shifts and crescendo in “Another Leaf” are just sensational.

It was my first time listening to Parranoul, and it most definitely won't be the last time either after this. A fantastic blend of Korean pop and climactic shoegaze. Great Album that will be vying for my AOTY for sure.

The intensity needed in the vocal to make these songs work is commendable to even attempt. It is ropey at parts but it could also just be interpreted as the raw emotion of a live performance. All the songs are brilliant and adapt surprisingly well to the live setting. The 46 minute closer, “Into The Endless Night”, starts off with a really nice and structured 10 minutes before diverting into a jam session with overwhelming results at times. It then concludes with a beautifully soft, therapeutic and sentimental sounding 10 minutes. Fantastic closer to a great album.

This is just so fun! This is stellar soft-rock that has a fantastically nostalgic feeling to it. Find me a more infectious song than "In My Head" and I will find you to be a liar. Consistently great stuff throughout.

Upon listening, This feels like a predecessor to their 2012 album “Valtari”. Ambient in places, yet grand and orchestral in others with next to no percussion. It’s a struggle to tell some songs apart which people could see as a bad thing but when the sound is this well done, why differentiate? “Klettur” instantly stands out and belongs amongst the highlights in their illustrious discography. The angelic wails of Jonsi combined with the built up swells of the orchestra lead to a stunning chorus crescendo that is topped off with the triumphant and militant-like drums that disperse the intensity to fantastic effect. Other highlights include “Gold” and the opener, “Glod”. This is yet another stellar album from the Icelandic band. Fantastic stuff.

While the sound isn’t as rough and ragged and the lyrics aren’t as bleak and depressing as 2020’s “Brave Faces Everyone”, it is a worthy follow up. It delves more into a softer style of Spanish Love Songs’ sound using synths a lot more frequently.

Another album of brilliant experimental soft ballad-like pop from Sundfor. Her discography is so fantastically consistent at this point and this is a worthy addition to it. Personal favourites are the title track and "Alyosha".

Timeless acoustic album with great, slightly fatalistic and depressed lyrics. Understated, yet it really shouldn’t be undervalued as it is fantastic stuff.
