Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 7% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.2/100, a mean average of 74.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 12.7.

Sick Sick Sick is awesome, one of their best tracks. There are some other good tunes like Suture Up Your Future, In The Hollow, Make it Wit Chu. But there are some clumsy tracks here that didn't click for me - like I'm Designer and Run Pig Run where the guitar just seems a bit too heavy and it doesn't quite work. Still overall well worth a listen - would be up there with Rated R if some of the weak tracks were cut/replaced (obviously nowhere near the awesomeness of Songs for the Deaf)

Bit more of a jolting tone and some sharper turns on most tracks than what was on previous albums. Song quality not quite matching either, but on that being said, this is still a great album with some outstanding tracks. Even when QOTSA make a sub par album for their standards, it's still an album that fucks over most that are put out by other bands. You can't fail with a QOTSA album.

For some reason this one sticks the most with me, it just feels like the dirtiest one. 'Make It Wit Chu' fucks up that flow a bit though, but still a nice song. (LOL I see my comment of a year ago now again, I guess I changed my mind a bit)

More abstract and layed back QOTSA album, but I enjoy it a ton, maybe not as much as SFTD but still ver enjoyable

On a good day I can enjoy this a lot, but overall not very impressed. They know how to incorporate noise into their music.

This album is so underated and hated and I don't know why because it's so awesome. Favourite tracks: Sutter Up Your Future, Misfit Love, Turnin' On The Screw.

The album is all over the place, but Homme has just enough tricks up his sleeve to keep things fresh. Only the last two songs made me wonder why the album didn't stop after suture up your future, run pig run is just awful.
favourites: I'm designer, make it wit chu, into the hollow

Really an under rated album. I think it's quite strong the whole way through. The only weak point being "I'm Designer," which is still a decent song, although not great. Some of these songs are really quite chill, but if you like distortion and chugging rhythm, this is an album for you.
