Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 1% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 82.8/100, a mean average of 81.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 82.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.5.

Their most iconic for sure. There are few to no mistakes on this album. They have their style, they show the possibilities, it has its perfect flaws (which are important) where they get a bit too confident and experimental (the offsetting pauses on 'God is in the Radio'), and where they grab a style out of the old hat that adds the perfect amount of cringe (the Jethro Tull-ish obsession with overly medieval-sounding folk on 'The Mosquito Song').
Such a progressive sound for the time, I love how it succeeds to be complex and melodic at the same time.
Awesome and the best album Queens of the Stone Age has ever done.

Very very very entertaining.
One of the best purely rock albums of this century no doubt.
As they've said, "lightning in a bottle" and they succeeded. It's very heavy, loud, and energetic. Not a consistent album but for the most part it's sick
I love playing this album from start to finish in one go SO MUCH!!!
Josh Homme is the man. This record is sexy, heavy, psychedelic. Play it loud folks.
