Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 14% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.5/100, a mean average of 74.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 12.2.

Weird but elegant, this album is one that hits a very specific taste. It’s sporadic and beautiful in a way only something this chaotic can be. As the other comments already mentioned, Hide and Seek is a beyond special song, but the others are not to slouch at. I’ll definitely need to keep revisiting this album as it’s a lot to digest with subject matter and production. It’s good at the least, worth at least a listen.
Update in the future: After some re-listens and effort, I finally understand it. It’s really good, solid 8/10
a strong powerful selection of mid-00s electronica that isn't afraid to tackle a good bunch of subjects with either a fraction of the normal levity or double the normal levity. Hide and Seek is for sure a standout if only for how it both departs from and encompasses the entire style of the album, but everything else is a gem.
This album is worth a listen. Moody, melacholic and beautiful. Hide and Seek could be on the best produced songs of all time.
I first heard "Hide and Seek" in the background of the Saturday Night Live skit...really liked it, googled it...had never heard it before that.
