Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 3% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 77.1/100, a mean average of 75.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.8.

I¨ll give it an okay, but when I was 21 this music went just by did not affect me then and less now, despite definite meaning to the punk scene.
Superb guitar work..

"Who says it's good good good to be alive? Same ones who keep it a perpetual jive."

That is a GREAT lyric, I just have to point out. Man, I love that line. There's a bunch of gems like that in here, the songwriting is fantastic, and then of course the virtuosity of both Hell and Quine as performers. I used to play the crap out of this when I was in college, and it still stands up today. Disagree with the reviewer back in 2009 who said this is "far better" than Bollocks; there's room for more than one punk masterpiece, and they're very different types of things. But it's true this one never seems to have gotten its due as what it is--one of the greatest albums of the late 70s.

The musicianship on this album is terrific and Richard Hell made a statement this should be much higher due to its lasting impact. If I was to make a Punk top five this would definitely be in it along with the Ramones, London Calling, Pink Flag and Never Mind the Bollocks.

So refreshing! I haven't been blown away like that by a first listen since quite some time! I will give that a few more listens, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it land in my top 50! Really incredible, super fun punk. Wow.

This is a great album to pump yourself up for a night on the town. Richard Hell left Television to make this album. Imagine the punk masterpiece that Tom Verlaine's guitar and Richard Hell's enthusiasm could have created!

Definatley a punk pioneering album. Far better than never mind the bollocks but that album gets all the attention. This is a must have for any punk fan.
