Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 1% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 86.7/100, a mean average of 85.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 86.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.0.

So much has been written about this album it’s sometimes hard to know where to start. I’m not going to go into the drug use and relationship breakdowns which have all be documented to death. Not that easy to do as this obviously shaped the album but I’ll give it a good
I was, and will always be, a Peter Green FM obsessive but this is the album that turned me onto the Buckingham / Nicks incarnation of the band. Obviously, Peter was blues and this most definitely isn’t, it’s more pop rock / soft rock (pop) than anything else but it is one of the greatest pop albums of all time.
The album is a pop behemoth and, rather like Tango In The Night, is an album filled with pop classics and undeniable quality playing and performances by a band at its peak. Its four singles, "Go Your Own Way", "Dreams", "Don't Stop", and "You Make Loving Fun", all reached the top 10 of the US Billboard Hot 100, with "Dreams" reaching number one.
I also think that they never bettered the harmonies achieved on this album on so many great tracks. Despite their problems, the vocals between Buckingham and Nicks are great and, as always, the criminally underrated Christine McVie worked her magic on so many great tracks
Just to finish, I wanted to mention the production on this album which is spot on and the musical arrangements. Pretty much everything came together to create a killer of an album. It is without doubt one of the greatest pop albums of all time.
I had seen this album cover all the time, and heard about it being one of the best albums ever made and it took me a while until I listened to it for the first time. Some tracks like Never Going Back Again and Songbird I wasn't very big on, but grew on me over time. And songs like the Chain, Dreams and Gold Dust Woman are what easily define this LP and this band. This is Fleetwood Mac at its peak, and its amazing.
The best pop-rock album ever. Great songs, great harmonies, great harmonies, and an iconic front image.
"Go Your Own Way", "Dreams", "Don't Stop" and even "The Chain" would be enough to make any album great but this truly collective effort by the band (with Steve Nicks, Christine McVie and Lindsey Buckingham contributing at least 3 songs each and with everybody writing "The Chain" together) resulted in an album (almost) without flaws.
The only song I consistently skip is the cringy ballad "Oh Daddy" but then again, this album also has one of my favorite Fleetwood Mac songs, the stellar fingerpicked "Never Going Back Again" so that kinda balances things out.
One of the best pop albums whose vocal harmonies often echoed personal struggles about relationships. Can’t help myself but to sing along when I’m listening. I’ve always thought that Buckingham guitar playing put this album over the top.

I mean it's rumours it's great I just never revisit it at this point
It just gets better every time I hear it
The beautiful haunting tone is echoed throughout the entire album -- even as it provides a variety of all-time hits.
