Returning as a foursome after an extended 15 year hiatus from the release of "Everything" in 1988, this 2003 release finds the garage band fleshing out their Southern California folk rock roots more than exploring the looking for a hit sound of their past successes like 'Manic Monday' or 'Walk Like An Egyptian.' This effort sounds more natural for the group than the forced stylism of previous efforts. Each member gets her fair share of opportunities to shine, and the band seems to have taken a far more egalitarian approach to their music as opposed to foisting Susanna Hoffs down the listeners' throats. Both the Peterson sisters and bassist Michael Steele contribute interesting compositions, which fall somewhere outside the bubblegum pop for which the group had previously become known for. Yet, Hoffs is there with the old reliable 'Eternal Flame' like ballad 'I Will Take Care Of You.' A consistent re-imagining of a time worn group.

A lot of hard work happens in the background to keep BEA running, and it's especially difficult to do this when we can't pay our hosting fees :(
