A moody record which bridges the gaps between UK electronic, modern R&B and ambient music in a way you don't see too often. Vocals and production are key here. At different points Feeo calls to mind singers like Beth Gibbons and Kelela, she also shares FKA Twigs' talent for fitting awkward British enunciation into smooth and soulful vocals. Portishead actually feel a bit like a touchstone for this mix of sounds and moods, with 'Here' sounding particularly reminiscent of their work (in a good way) but there's more distorted looped production on tracks like 'Sandpit' which remind me a bit more of Tomorrow's Modern Boxes. These comparisons only spring to mind easily because of how little music there is in this particular area, 'Goodness' is a really strong new exploration of this sound.

This is a good album for people who like their ambient pulsating synth-drone records to have a "light touch." Also, feeo has a nice voice — you can barely hear it, but it's there, and it's nice. And it's not all drone, either — track 9, "The Hammer Strikes the Bell," sounds almost tuneful, and another, "Sandpit," even has a piano on it. Imagine that! (Okay, maybe you'll just have to take my word for it on the "nice voice" thing.)
