Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.5/100, a mean average of 71.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 71.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 19.2.

Looking back at my comment, I would say it's only derivative in the method of music making, not style in any way. That's what ridiculous about naming plunderphonics in a review: it's a method of making music, not a genre or a particular style. You can't say "oh it sounds like plunderphonics, I've heard all of this", because the term doesn't describe how it sounds, just how it was made. This sounds nothing like DJ Shadow or The Avalanches or Boards of Canada. I think what's great about this album is how it makes something very trippy and sinister out of pop songs. And that's the magic of sampling: making the result into something else entirely (something her countless copycats who just slow down and add reverb to songs). Still think it's an 8/10 though.

Pretty interesting quite honestly, and cool to experience it either from the perspective of a more ambient sort of thing as well as to see it as a cultural movement through vaporwave.

Plunderphonics? Someone saw M E L O N’s dumbass review. I get that it is kinda derivative with artists like Boards of Canada and DJ Shadow existing, but it’s clear that Vektroid put somewhat of a different spin to it. And the cultural impact is
