This is tuneful British folk rock. There's some nice instrumentation, affecting songs and subtley pleasant harmonies. At times i think of earlier old 97's, some times they conjure fleet foxes, some times i think of mr. mister. These comparisons are quite flimsy, and there really isn't anything spectacular here, but my comparisons speak to how well these white boys can throw an alt-country tune together. Effective and affective...and i love the harmonies (like in standout "hand that feeds"). For a while, i thought diamond rugs would fill my "middle brother / monsters of folk" folk-alt-country-indie hankering, but the dunwells are in a slight class above.
