When you put this album on, you immediately get that early 90s vibe: a little bit of romance, a little bit of sadness, and it's like you're sitting in front of a cassette player again, waiting for the next hit to play. It's not complex art rock or experimental electronics — it's music that immediately gets into your mood and stays in your head.
The main star of the album is, of course, "Julia." She has an instantly memorable melody and the very voice of Batyrkhan Shukenov: there is so much sincerity in it that even simple lines sound like a confession. And it was with this song that everything really began for the band: everyone knew it, it was playing everywhere, and now, years later, it still catches on.
Almost the entire album is based on a similar formula.: good melodies plus recognizable vocals. "White River" and "Stop, Night" are the very songs that you want to sing along to from the first line. There is a slight sadness in them, and hope, and something very personal, as if they are about your own experiences.
There are also lighter tracks like "Ping Pong Boy" ‑ they add dynamics to the album and prevent it from becoming too melancholic. And "Rainy Season" works like a little musical sketch: it's like it's drawing a picture — a gray city, drops on glass, and you're just driving somewhere and thinking about your own.
The arrangements here are neat and stylish: keyboards and guitars do not argue with each other, but add up to a dense, but not overloaded sound. It feels like the musicians are professionals: every instrument is in its place, and nothing superfluous.
For 1993, it was a sure step: the band found its own style, understandable to a wide audience. And most importantly, the album doesn't sound like a set of random hits. It has a mood that stretches from the first to the last song.
