Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 4% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.9/100, a mean average of 75.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.2/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.6.

This album is very hit and miss and you frequently go from incredible instrumental moments to boring and drawn out segments that make you keep checking how much run time there is left. The main strength of this release though is the voice which sounds like it hasn't aged at all and is as fresh as ever. It carries us through the album and it is one of Young's best vocal performances in recent years. Instrumentally it is also strong in places such as on the title track and Ramada Inn but on most other tracks it is quite on and off. The one main issue with this release for me is the length of it, which is so unnecessary. I argue that this release could be around the 40 minute mark and would be much better for it. Overall, a lengthy and drawn out release which has a few shining moments that demonstrates that this artist still has the spark in him to create quality music.
Psychedelic Pill feels like a rehashing of old ideas as an excuse to string out a lukewarm sequel to Ragged Glory. The title track is really good, but the rest is pretty forgettable.
Bom momento do velho Neil, estava a todo vapor!
Think I underrated this for a while. When they get going, the years just float off. Doing exactly what you want Neil and the Horse to do. That voice (love it or hate it) still pretty much the same and the less than slick Horse with a good dose of absolutely wonderful lead guitar on top. Quite probably his last great record.
Wow!!!! Great album, exceeded my expectations by far and easily the best of Neil's recent albums
The best new Neil Young album I've heard in a while. The guy can still rock and the band sounds great.
Not that bad at all! Ramada Inn and Walk Like A Giant are pretty good songs! And I kept whistling that melody for ages
Didn't give this much of a chance at first - but it's pretty good. Ramada Inn is as good as anything by 70s Neil.
Ramada Inn is up their with the very best of Neil songs. It's a patchy album overall (many Neil albums are) but one of his best over recent years.
