Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 65.9/100, a mean average of 64.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 64.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.7.

First off, Joe Perry has no right singing on this album, it was terrible! Even if he didn't though, It would not change the fact that this is a horrible album. No wonder they haven't released any new music since this mess. Time to get back to the "Raunch & Roll" or hang up your boots and scarf. Sorry, I truly do love you Aerosmith, but this was a bad trip for me. Rating (73.66)

Very good hard rock album. Best 5 songs average is 89/100, so album can get very good 90/100. Best song is "We all fall down" 95/100, closely followed by "Luv xxx" and "Can't stop loving you" both 90/100 and next "Oh yeah", "Tell me", "Legendary child", "What could have been love" and "Closer" all 85/100.

There are flashed of their former brilliance here on songs like Luv XXX, Street Jesus and Freedom Fighter....but it's heavily clogged with syrupy ballads that border on adult contemporary. One of my favourite songs on this album is actually oe Perry's Oasis in the Night, which was a "bonus track" on certain editions.

Not as bad as I feared, but not a great album either.

If they cut most of Warren/Child stuff (ballads) from the album, and put "Out Go The Lights," "Street Jesus," and "Legendary Child" as a 1-2-3 punch, it could've been a comeback like Soundgarden and Van Halen got, but I feel like they're trying to please everyone. That strategy usually ends up pissing off everyone in some way.

They're in their 60s and still trying to capture that brass ring. I'm not sure if it's commendable or sad. It's nice to see an album of original Aerosmith material surface after over a decade, but it's still got the usual flaws - too many bloated ballads, too many goofy lyrics, and a damned Diane Warren song. This album harkens back to their 70s sound, but doesn't quite make it. But Aerosmith hasn't sounded like their having this much fun in years, and that's why we listen to Aerosmith - a fun, guilty pleasure. This album is better than Just Push Play - isn't that enough?
