Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)

This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 76.3/100, a mean average of 75.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.4/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 15.9.

One of the greatest American rock bands ever and one of my all time favorite bands. I love almost everything they’ve ever done from Toys In The Attic (1975) & Rocks (1976) to their lesser known commercial stuff like Rock In A Hard Place (1982) & Done With Mirrors (1985) to their huge commercial comeback in the Late-80’s/Early-90’s with their albums like Permanent Vacation (1987) & Pump (1989) & Get A Grip (1993) to their Late-90’s/Early-2000’s stuff like Nine Lives (1997) & Just Push Play (2001).

Alll throughout the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s…Aerosmith continued to survive and rock hard and they made several classic rock songs & albums

Going through their discography, they're a lot better band than I think a lot people would think. Steven Tyler is an incredible singer, Brad Whitford and Joe Perry are a dual guitar attack, and Joey Kramer and Tom Hamilton are a very solid rhythm section holding everything together. Their 70s output is a high watermark in blues-derived hard rock and proto-metal that continues to be highly influential, but honestly, a few of their post-70s albums like Rock in a Hard Place, Permanent Vacation and Pump are nothing to sneeze at.

Their legacy and overall current image I believe was really hurt by their 90s and 2000s output, where the band went fully commercial and produced banal radio power ballads. But thankfully, I think most people both young and old seem to be rediscovering how kickass 70s Aerosmith really was.

Hard-rocking band which was never really my cup of tea. There's no denying their craftsmanship on a few lightning in a bottle hits.

A once proud standard bearer of the best of classic hard rock who descended into mindless arena schlock and ultimately became nothing more than a parody of themselves.

Despite their commercial endeavours beginning with Permanent Vacation, Aerosmith's 70s output is too good to ever discount this band as being one of the best hard rock bands of all time. Toys in the Attic and Rocks are classics in the genre. Get Your Wings, Done In Mirrors and their self-titled debut are also great albums as well.

I loved this band when I was in high school, but nowadays I'm having a hard time remembering why.

Great band who had a very interesting career due to their hugely successful comeback in the late 80s. Their first album has some great tunes but Get Your Wings, Toys in the Attic and Rocks are classics in my book. They were less successful until Permanent Vacation, Pump and Get A Grip which started to creep a little too far into the commercial. I’d also recommend the compilation album Gems. They were highly influential to great 80s bands like Motley Crue and Guns N Roses.
