Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. Shortlisted for album of the year at the Grammys in 1984. The Winner was Thriller by Michael Jackson
A nice little compilation of mid 80's pop stuff.
1980's soundtrack goodness at its best. Irene Cara's song is a classic and "Maniac" is an 80s staple as well. Some of the non-hits are solid as well, such as the Donna Summer and Laura Branigan tracks.
