Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 15% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.2/100, a mean average of 73.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.9.

I love a good concept album and this ones a good-un

'The Forgotten Arm' tells the story of John a boxer and Caroline , but in reality its Johns tale and his struggles

The journey begins with John and Caroline meeting at a boxing event in Richmond Virginia ("Dear John") , eventually John begins to fall apart ("King Of The Jailhouse") and eventually leaves Caroline ("Goodbye Caroline"). Caroline then confronts John and demands he comes clean about whats bothering him (" Going Through The Motions") so John confesses that his heavy drinking is compensation for a troubled mind ("I Can't Get My Head Around It"). Unfortunately John hits rock bottom and moves into his Dad's basement ("She Really Wants You") whilst still confessing his love for Caroline but is really struggling (" Video"). Time passes and John is doing better financially with the couple reconnecting and are now living out of hotel rooms (" Little Bombs") but Johns struggles still persist and are really dragging Caroline down ("That's How I Knew This Story Would Break My Heart") who is at breaking point and simply cant help John any longer ("I Can't Help You Anymore") so John tries to clean up his act and stop drinking (" I Was Thinking I Could Clean Up For Christmas"). Again , time passes and we have the couple reconnecting and even though the outcome is vague seems to hint at a happy ending ("Beautiful") before BONUS TRACK "Who Knows" has Caroline questioning if John will ever over come his demons
