For 25 years, from 1945 till Szell died in 1970, the Cleveland Orchestra was considered the best orchestra in the world and their performances of the complete Beethoven symphonies is proof of that opinion, especially the ninth...anyone interested in the Beethoven Symphonies should run out right now and buy the complete set. These recordings are amazing.
