If this release was only the second half of this double LP, it would be among my early leaders for album of the year. The rock half here is so much stronger. While the beginning of BL on BL starts off strong with Diamond Sky (killer beat), after that there is so much pure glam rap shit on disc one it actually turned me off from trying the second part for over a month. Due to a happy accident, I finally made it through and to my relief there are so many great songs on the rock side. The Dog is Mine has a White Stripes level riff and is the easiest song to repeat. There's a Panda Bearish track right after this that works well too. If you're into distortion, there's a great piece near the end that is outstanding. K-os has always been a bit of a music nerd too, and shows it off here. Neil Young samples. Dylan, Missy Elliot, Beach Boys, and Beatles are just a few musical shout outs that appear either in the title of the track of the song itself. So, how to rate this? Well, the second disc is so good, but this whole thing is weighed down by that albatross of a disc one. Give both halves and listen and see for yourself.
