Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 79.0/100, a mean average of 78.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.0.

Good tracks and great vocals throughout, but I have a strong preference for the second half.
It seems as though all of his albums were leading up to this point. A pinnacle, not just of Al Green's legendary 70s album streak, but of soul music period. The divine vocals, the silky production, the amazingly dense but subtle instrumentation. This is simply one of the most sophisticated albums my ears will ever have the pleasure of listening to.
Track Picks:
Call Me (Come Back Home)
Have You Been Making Out OK

Jesus is Waiting
I never thought I would be an al green fan. I had him all wrong. Because he's not straight funk I made a mistake. Picked the vinyl up for next to nothing and the sound is wonderful. Cool as hell, really. Laid back, Sunday morning style. So glad I took a punt as I wouldn't have ever gotten round to hearing it on spotify. Think I gave it two seconds two years ago via spotify and as I didn't hear full on funk I switched it off. Lowest rated song on here is funny how time slips away, ha, serious? This album is cool as fuck, maybe not straight funk but funky as hell in a smooth cool chilled groove stylee. If its good enough for ghostface to rhyme over, then it's ok. I'm gonna flip this over to the start and get a beer. Almost good enough to believe Jesus is actually waiting.
This album is criminally underrated here on BEA. Show Al Green - one of the greatest singers and a soul music genius - some love!
Soul setentero de tempo suave, en una colección de temas cortados por un patrón rítmico y melódico muy homogéneo, al servicio de una voz privilegiada, como la de Green. Una propuesta de buen nivel.
Strong soul record from the brilliant Al Green. An enjoyable listen from start to finish, and superb songs in, stand up, here I am, and the title track. Classic.
A beautiful soulful album every track is good only weakness is "I'm So Lonesome..." I still rate the 2 albums that preceded this as better all round albums.
"Jesus Is Waiting" indeed. Naked, on the bed. Glorious closer to a very good album.
The brother was as smooth as velvet cheese. Who could make a song about Jesus so fly!
