Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 65.8/100, a mean average of 63.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 63.2/100. The standard deviation for this album is 19.4.

Some great songs, but some mid ones as well. As others have said, yes these are hampered by Steinman's singing, but Meat Loaf himself would cover 6 of these tracks on his own albums up to Bat Out Of Hell II, and not all of them are great there either. Out Of The Frying Pan is without a doubt the best thing here, with Rock & Roll Dreams a close second - both a little better on BOOH2 but then they had a lot of time in between. Love & Death And An American Guitar is almost as good as Meat's version, and truly epic. Surf's Up and Lost Boys And Golden Girls are kind of mediocre no matter who sings them. The Storm is a very long instrumental which is fine, I guess. Overall still a good album, but some singing lessons and editing could have elevated this to perhaps a great album.
Awesome songs hampered by Steinman's mediocre vocals. These would have been so great had they been sung by any of the other great vocalists Steinman wrote for through the years.
It's safe to say Bat Out of Hell 2 came out of this.
Surely the original cover of this reord didn't have a "The Nice Price" sticker on it.
