An eccentric masterpiece of musicality and an intimate emotional self-portrait. Soundwise maybe inspired by "Thriller" it predates the more sophisticated crossover of "Purple rain" by sounding even more sophisticated and concerned about the evolution of black music. Did I mention that this is a proud feminist statement? "Written, arranged and produced by Teena Marie" says the backsleeve. And it gets better and better.
