Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.6/100, a mean average of 73.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 10.0.

At the time of writing this comment, I note that out of twenty albums listed, there are a total of three comments in total! I bought this original vinyl pressing years ago at a car boot for about £1.00. The question then, 'was it value for money'? Well it plays like a mint copy so that's a bonus. The music is a kind of meld of funk, rock, blues, jazz, with nods to early psychedelia. 'Shake, Rattle & Roll' will most certainly get your feet tapping. The track which follows is reminiscent of the Clapton 'Backless' album. So yes, my £1.00 buy was value for money, not a bad album at all for something different. Will give it a spin once in a while.
