Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 24% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.8/100, a mean average of 72.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.5.

A good album, but only in glimpses does it compare favourably to Godspeed. A return to form, but could have been more consistent. I still prefer their first 2-3 records.

Got to be their best, most coherent to date. The amount of energy on this and on the last Godspeed is really something. Feels really urgent.

It is rather charming in places. Can be a little too loud sometimes. Whole thing feels like a runaway train.

w o w this is Silver Mt Zion's best album and it even compares to Godspeed's stuff (but don't get crazy it compares to albums like Yanqui UXO)and I could easily see What We Loved Was Not Enough as their most accessible song. I think it's very good for anyone who likes Godspeed, but also wants some more immediacy and action, and the wall of chaotic but beautiful sound that this album gives off really delivers. So far the best album of 2014 to me

Headphones' candy. It's enthralling and likely to get better with every listen.

This will definitely end up being being one of my favorites by the end of the year. It can be chaotic, dark, and uplifting all at the same time. Just a really great amount of energy and passion.
