Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 3% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 77.2/100, a mean average of 76.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.2.

Epic, unearthly sonics - Weather Report speak a musical language that could be from lightyears ahead in the future, or is as old as time itself.
endless drivel jazz
Heavy Weather shows a completely different side to jazz fusion than, say, Bitches Brew. Vibrant, colorful, and smooth, as opposed to dark, brooding, and jagged.
Boring , meandering, directionless, riff-less. Proves you can be a great musician but not necessarily a great composer. The only track that works is Birdland and that's just cause it has a nice hook which is repeated ad nauseum when it isn't interrupted by the slow building intro, middle break, outro. I'll take Yes over this if I want to hear excellent musicians who at least can put a meaningful track together.
The Album where Jaco Pastorius really cements his place in the group. His bass is such a complimentary voice and shines when soloing.
Weather Report's best album. Birdland is one of the great jazz instrumental that you don't have to be a jazz fan to appreciate.
A classic jazz fusion album from the 1970's. Great musicianship especially from Jaco Pastorius (fretless bass), and Joe Zawinul (keyboards). Also this album has classic jazz standards such as "Birdland","Teen Town", and Wayne Shorter composition "A Remark You Made." Classic album.
I don't like this kind of jazz music. Sounds too smooth and slick for me.
