Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.7/100, a mean average of 71.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 72.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.1.

The album that brought Aerosmith back into the big league. Permanent vacation, is a thoroughly enjoyable rock'n'roll record. Obviously designed to be successful, it saw the band employing professional songwriters, such as Desmond Child, to work alongside them to bring a more commercial edge to the songs. You have to say it worked. Dude looks like a lady, is a total classic, as is, rag doll, heart's done time, and, Angel. There other excellent moments in, hangman jury, and a cover of The Beatles, I'm down. A super slick rock record and a lot of fun.

Not a bad comeback, but preferred them when they were 'living on the edge'

Great singles, rest of the album just fillers. Not their best work.

This and Pump was the end of what was a decent discography.

Not quite a full recovery, but a step in the right direction... Magic Touch? Even Steven Tyler looks back and shakes his head.

Hot off of their "walk this way" collaboration, they return with some straight-forward pop-rock. "Ragdoll", "Dude (Looks like a lady)" and "angel" were the radio hits.

The bad boys of Boston are back with a bang (sure, technically they were back already on the last outing but nobody really noticed). Changing directions somewhat and almost abandoning the blooze they are now a bit too pop for some taste buds, but if you can savor that this is a treat. A bit of an uneven affair with Rag Doll and Dude Looks Like a Lady sticking out, but with just a few exceptions this is almost up there with Toys in the Attic.
