Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. Top: 3-5, 12, 13, 16, 17
High: 2, 7, 8, 10, 11, 14

Another quirky record by a unique artist. The production values are great, musically it's interesting and the material is classic Todd.
A strange album, mainly due to the huge contrasts. One moment you'll have some weird psychedelic electronic sound collage, and the next you have an Elton John sounding love ballad.
There's good and bad in the eclecticism. The electronic songs are mostly interesting, with some going on a bit long. The silly sung songs are infrequent but good. The rockers are pretty good and interesting. It's the love ballads, and the slow songs in general that drag and bring down the album, because they don't fit. In this goofball album we switch to serious sounding songs. In that way it's a more eclectic album than say, The White Album, but the diversity in the songs is also somewhat jarring (unlike the White Album).
But nonetheless, check this one out, it's really a unique album!
