Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 78.5/100, a mean average of 77.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 78.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.9.

Shortlisted for album of the year at the Grammys in 1973. The winner was Concert For Bangladesh by George Harrison & Friends

I've always thought Without You was absolutely atrocious. I understand other people like it, that's fine. My point is, even though I despise that song like bubonic plague, I'm giving this bad boy a 95. Just omit that track, and to my ears, it's one of the greatest albums of the classic rock era.

Thought it was going to be one note, but Nilsson really diversifies his sound with some hard rock (Jump Into the Fire), ballads (Without You), novelty songs (Coconut), and pop (Gotta Get Up).

I was disappointed to conclude that the best songs were the ones not written by the artist.

Good album. Really good songs including, jump into the fire, coconut, and off course the Badfinger cover, without you. This is one of those albums where you don't realise how many songs you know from it until you hear it. Underrated.

Clean, enjoyable, and clever folk-pop. Pop in the early 70s summarized in one pretty awesome package!
