Phenomenal album - a landmark in modern prog. Superb production, technicality, songwriting, and musicianship, packed with a unique spread of emotions that feel mature and well-rounded in spite of their roots in metal. Front to back this album kicks a**, with some of my favourite moments in music - from one of the greatest guitar solos of all time in Kascade, a full-on acid trip in Lippincott, the absolute tastiest percussive djent riff in Physical Education, to the beautiful classical interlude subtly tucked between monstrously triumphant riffs in Nephele. This album has left a marked impact on my life that few albums can claim to have achieved.
Standout tracks: Kascade, Physical Education, Another Year
Might catch some flack for this, but Tosin Abasi is the GOAT.
