When I was young I would try and sing like Larnelle. I've seen him in concert too many times to count. I know that there are lots of great works by him but this one speaks to me. The words of the songs on this album got me through a pretty low time in my life and the singing has inspired me to push the limits of my vocal range. His interpretation of "His Eye is On the Sparrow" it far and away, in my opinion, the best ever recorded.
