Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. Whether or not you like this album totally depends on how you prefer your Polly Jean. Are you into the raw rough PJ such as this album, ‘Rid of Me’ and ‘To Bring You My Love’ ? Or the more structured rock releases like ‘ Stories From the City . . . ‘ and ‘The Hope Six Demolition Project’. I personally have always much preferred the former so really dig ‘Uh Huh Her’
Along with, is this desire?, uh huh her, is PJ Harvey's weakest album. They are the two records that don't seem to have a theme running through them, musically or lyrically. It's never going to be bad with PJ but she's obviously lacking inspiration here. Disappointing rather than bad.
I like this record. The woman is not afraid to switch things up.

Her weakest album so far.
Best tracks: The Letter, Shame, The Slow Drug.
A fairly solid listen, proving that even a lesser Harvey record still is better than most. Still, it's probably the only PJ record that is, well, "just another" PJ record

Most of these songs just aren't good... it's definitely her worst so far.
