Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.2/100, a mean average of 70.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.7.

A good way to end his contract. Al feels comfortable here, it doesn't sound forced, and he finds a humor that works with his age and position in the music world. It sounds like he put in the effort to make this a good sendoff.

This album certainly is better than his previous effort, Alpocalypse. The parodies are much stronger, and the originals don't feel like half finished ideas. His parodies make the original songs more tolerable. This album was a great first listen, and any fan of mainstream would enjoy a new twist on their favorite songs. Go listen to it.

...and like that, Weird Al is relevant again. Some of his strongest work, 30+ years on. Well done.

Weird Al is still cruising along with awesome song and style parodies years after artists that he covered early in his career died or became irrelevent. His greatest foe now is the internet, as any Joe, Bob or Sally can pop a good parody onto youtube faster than you can say "broadband". He still holds his own well though. It says a lot when one of his song parodies, "tacky", is better than the covered artist's entire new album. (yes, i listened to "GIRL" - twice!) It says a lot when one of his style parodies, "my own eyes", is better than the covered artist's entire new album. (yes, i listened to "sonic highways" - twice!) Of course, some of my enjoyment of a weird al album comes from the songs he chooses for parodies, and I'm not that big a fan of "blurred lines", "radioactive" or "fancy" (except for that charli xcx!). But between his song and style parodies and polka mashup, you can't say he's lost his touch. Pop music may have changed in the last 30 years, but Weird Al still gots game. (Aka, he's great and you suck!)
