Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 9% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.8/100, a mean average of 73.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.0.

“Trying to move things on a bit: here are some thoughts on a few more I've listened to recently. Thought I wouldnt like this but actually I enjoyed it. I liked it when the album first came out. Then Kula Shaker became one of the most criticised bands in the press in the late 90s. I think it had…”

Critically acclaimed band that has missed the public adoration they deserve. This their debut album is probably most deserving of classic status. It is a mid 90s lo fi quirky indie classic. Very much an album about weekend drug taking and small town fun.The Fuzzy guitars help set the tone. They have a rich and varied back catalog that any music fan should spend time unravelling.

Now this album deserves so much more praise! The first 4 songs are magnificent while the rest of the album holds together nicely too! Definitely worth a listen

Not for my ears, again another band that has some potential but this mix of harder rock and brit-pop does not carry the band as far as you might expect
The first track is fun and one of the best, another good was "Bad Behaviour and Something 4 the Weekend (very 60's)"
