Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

Björk is basically a unique artist, but her voice irritates me on this album so much. The music is dark, arty, and monotonous. The chamber music vibes make this an album which not for your pleasure to listen to. For hipsters and critiques only. Not a challenging album, but with long songs a boring listen, for me anyway,
Incredibly dark and dense. Vulnicura is a taxing but rewarding listen. It does start to fall apart a little bit with the last half, but it never flat out does.
Truly gorgeous album! I need to listen to it more then I have. Love Bjork and this is pretty flawless.
omg this is so sad

It had been a while since Björk had recorded an album that was gonna be remembered in years to come - Volta was little more than a bunch of collaborations and repurposed ideas and Biophilia couldn’t get written about without mentioning the education program or the apps and how all the lyrics were about science. But Vulnicura is well-written, beautifully produced and arranged, and shows the world exactly how to make art about heartbreak.
Best track: Black Lake. While the brutal opening of Family is my favourite sound from the whole album, this song sustains a feeling for a good ten minutes, something Björk had not really done before. And the video captures the mood beautifully.
First half of album is better than the latter half.
Raw and very beautiful.
