Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 7% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.7/100, a mean average of 74.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.6.

12 years since the last album. Damon & Graham both moved on and if it stayed that way we wouldn't have missed anything with thus album imo
I prefer this to their 90s stuff. It's just behind Think Tank for me but to me this is a more mature album than their popular stuff. Ghost Ship is my favourite. There Are Too Many Of Us and Thought I Was A Spaceman are 2nd and 3rd.
That Blur should release an album after a twelve year absence is remarkable in itself but the fact said album is so darn good makes the achievement even more remarkable
If ‘Magic Whip’ is indeed Blurs swan song album what a great way to go out and to wrap up an incredible career
I think this is Blur's best album, or at least the most consistent one. 8.5/10.
Masterpiece. Just it.
A pleasant surprise. I've really enjoyed listening to this album.
Underrated for sure.
Favoritas: My Terracotta Heart, Ong Ong, There Are Too Many Of Us, Pyongyang
A tidy album from Blur but I don't think it has enough top-shelf songs to nudge it into the 80+ ratings for mine. It is consistent though, and I agree that many of the songs are very enjoyable but it hasn't got the enduring classics on it.
