To my ears, this is a rollicking, good-time soul jazz album with Jimmy Smith in peak form, and simple, unobtrusive settings by Oliver Nelson to keep things rocking. I guess to other people's ears, it's something else, but that's what I'm hearing. Love Jimmy Smith, love this album, not sure what the problem is supposed to be.
