This is only the third album I've heard by Captain Beefheart, the first being Bongo Fury and the second being Trout Mask Replica, but this one is already a whole lot more digestible. It is undoubtedly a Beefheart album though, as tracks like Hey Garland I Dig Your Tweed Coat will showcase. But there are also some more traditional sounding songs, like the title track. I feel like this should be rated a bit higher in 1982, it's not like it's creatively bankrupt or unenjoyable.

This was Beefheart's final album and the first one I got. From there it was a wonderful journey into his world.
I continually surprised by not just what a musical genius Beefheart is, but how amazingly good his lyrics are!
