Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 68.3/100, a mean average of 67.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 67.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 22.2.

Incrivelmente coeso e cheio de emoções... Gostei bastante de algumas notas saudosas!
I'm afraid if it were not for the anti-popism that populates literally every nook and cranny, this album could have attained a much higher recognition. This is by far Janet's best album imo. It contains certain fillers but not to the point that they spoil the mood.
She and her long-time fellows have written and produced a signature Janet Jackson's song again, namely Broken Hearts Heal, and a surprisingly tasteful quiet-storm down-tempo R&B No Sleep, both of which I find exquisite. It's a bit of a shock how good she sounds on this record too, for it really leads me to believe that she has a voice better befitting the emotional and velvet songs than the likes of Mariah Carey.
It might come to be contrary to the wider consensus what I hold up to: the later part, which comprises several short tracks, sounds particularly good to me. I don't find the likes of Promise, Lessons Learned or Black Eagle self-indulging, but instead, I find them a delight because of their exceptional slow-burning quality, which is very rare in other R&B records.
With this record published, I really anticipate what Janet has to offer in the years to come.
A real return to form her best album since the 1997 release Velvet Rope. It sounds current and very few "fillers" and none of those annoying 10 sec. interlude tracks !
This is my #18 best album of 2016. This is probably her best album since 2001's All for You" or 1997's stellar "The Velvet Rope". It sounds current and relevant, while still maintain her identity. It doesn't sound like she's trying too hard. She's just being Janet. This is another album that's a little too long and could have been refined and distilled down a bit to maybe 15 vs. the bloated 19 tracks. However, in this case, even the filler tracks are still worthy B-Sides. They aren't just meh songs like many other bloated albums lately, but there are just a few too many songs on this. There is a really cool song on here called "Gon' B Alright" that sounds like a lost Jackson 5 song, as sung by Janet, which is a really cool ode to her famous brothers. There's nothing groundbreaking about this album, but it is a solid effort for a veteran Pop songstress and music royalty like Janet.
Unbreakable marks a triumphant return for Janet Jackson. She re-teamed with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and released her best album since 2001. There's so much depth to this album lyrically and the overall message is quite beautiful.
Although she's got absolutely nothing left to prove, she still has a lot to say. Great album!
