Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 17% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.2/100, a mean average of 72.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.8.

I think this has to be my favourite JMJ album. I listened to the tape for hours driving up and down motorways some 30 years ago! I recently got this on vinyl re-issue although I still have the tape. I liked this album so much when it was issued that I bought the full musical score and ended up sequencing with my own arsenal of musical gagetary. The way Jarre constructs his tracks is both simple and complex. The repeating patterns are gradually built into something epic. The music is generally more melodic than Tangerine Dream but there are similarities with TD's eighties work.
Jean-Michel Jarre might have been a bit cool in the 70s, I suppose. He wasn't cool in the 80s, however, and by the 90s he was even further down the list. The guy can write a tune, though, and Chronologie shows that in abundance. Coupled with his incredible production skills, it makes for an outstanding album. There's neo-classical overtones (the first half of Chronologie Part. 1), banging synthpop (Chronologie Part. 4) and funky dance (Chronologie Part. 8). Look past the reputation and dig a little deeper into Jarre's output for worthwhile rewards.
